Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Police state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the fluid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important representative said the incident left him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
